Description

Surface Filtration (Bag Filter Type) is a filtration method where suspended particles are retained on the surface layer of a porous filter media, rather than being trapped throughout its depth. In this configuration, contaminant removal is based on a physical barrier effect, where particles larger than the media’s pore size are mechanically blocked and held on the upstream surface of the bag.

Bag filters typically utilize nonwoven polypropylene, polyester, or nylon felt with nominal micron ratings ranging from 1 µm to 200 µm. The filtration media is supported by a structural ring or collar to maintain shape under pressure. Surface filtration using bags is highly effective for applications involving large particle loads, coarse filtration requirements, or batch processes with predictable contaminant profiles.
